Breakthrough Cancer Research is Ireland’s leading national cancer research charity.  Founded by the late Professor Gerry O’Sullivan, a cancer surgeon and scientist,  Breakthrough Cancer Research works to significantly increase the number of children and adults who can survive cancer. We invest in world-class research to impact the quality of life for people with cancer and save lives. We are particularly focused on improving outcomes for those cancers, which are poorly served by current treatment options.

We know research works: 50 years ago breast and prostate cancer survival rates were less than 50%. Because of research, progress in detection and treatment, they’re now over 85%.  Still, sadly today some cancer survival rates are still less than 10%. That’s not a number we’re prepared to live with and with better treatments for all, we won’t have to.  Research will find them.  Help us deliver the treatments of tomorrow and make more survivors of cancer into the future.
